Meet Our Speakers at 16TH Ordinary Session of AUB General Assembly in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire

 Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos is the current Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the largest television network in Africa. Reappointed to the position in 2023, Mr. Dembos brings over three decades of media leadership and broadcasting experience, spanning public service broadcasting, strategic communications, and industry advocacy.

A native of Yola in Adamawa State, Nigeria, Dembos has held several prominent positions within the NTA, including Executive Director of Marketing, General Manager of NTA Kano and Lokoja, and Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre. His leadership journey has been marked by a deep commitment to public interest broadcasting and a focus on modernizing Nigeria’s media landscape.

In addition to his national roles, Mr. Dembos plays a significant role at the continental level as the Fourth Vice President of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB). He also currently serves as Chairman of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON), where he advocates for media freedom, innovation, and collaboration across the industry.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from both Ahmadu Bello University and Kaduna State Polytechnic and was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by Commonwealth University, London, in 2017. His professional affiliations include Fellowships with the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), and the Institute of Credit Administration of Nigeria (ICA), among others.

A former National President of the Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), Mr. Dembos also served on the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), further demonstrating his dedication to both media excellence and workers' rights.

Fluent in English, Hausa, and Fulfulde, Mr. Dembos is widely respected for his strategic insight, communicative clarity, and leadership in promoting indigenous content and technological advancement in African broadcasting. He is also an avid squash enthusiast.
