A major shift is coming for African media, and it is powered by artificial intelligence.
In Yaoundé, top government officials and media leaders are pushing forward a bold plan to transform how news is produced and delivered across the continent.
Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of External Relations of Cameroon, Gervais Bindzi Edzimbi met with Director General of the AUB, Grégoire Ndjaka to deepen cooperation between Cameroon and AUB, with a strong focus on turning the Yaoundé Declaration into real action.
At the heart of the talks is a game changing project, the creation of an African Artificial Intelligence Observatory. This initiative aims to help media organizations adapt to the fast-changing digital world, improve content production, and strengthen journalism using AI tools.

The Observatory will support African broadcasters to stay competitive, fight misinformation, and better serve their audiences in an era where technology is reshaping communication.
The Yaoundé Declaration, adopted during the 2024 AUB AI Summit, is now moving from promises to implementation, signaling Africa’s determination to take control of its digital future.
For many observers, this is more than a policy discussion, it is a turning point. African media is preparing not just to survive the AI revolution, but to lead it.
