Dakar, Senegal – Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) has reaffirmed its commitment to revitalizing its collaboration with the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), reinforcing its position as a founding and influential member of the Union.

A high-level delegation from GRTS, led by its Board Chairman, Charles Camara, made this significant pledge during a strategic visit to the AUB Headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. In a bold step towards strengthening continental media partnerships, Camara announced GRTV’s intention to host the prestigious AUB General Assembly in 2026, marking The Gambia’s deepened engagement in the Union’s mission of fostering media excellence across Africa.

Mr. Camara said The Gambian commitment to hosting the AUB General Assembly in 2026 reflects The Gambia’s dedication to playing an active and leading role in African broadcasting. As a founding member, recognizes the immense value of this partnership and look forward to benefiting from AUB’s extensive capacity development initiatives.

Welcoming the move, AUB Director General Gregoire Ndjaka lauded GRTS’s renewed engagement and affirmed the Union’s full support in ensuring a successful and impactful General Assembly.

He said AUB stands ready to assist GRTS in enhancing its media capacity through specialized training programs aimed at empowering Gambian journalists and media professionals. Additionally, he encourages GRTS to leverage the AUBVision Platform, a cutting-edge resource providing real-time news feeds from across Africa, to enrich its news content and strengthen its programming.

The Gambian delegation also included senior officials from the Ministry of Communication, the Director General of GRTS, and other top executives, underscoring the country’s high-level commitment to fostering collaboration with AUB.

This renewed alliance marks a strategic move towards enhancing media cooperation and development in The Gambia and across the continent, reinforcing Africa’s collective voice on the global stage.
