The AUB-RT Academy training programme commenced with its premiere session on Creating Promos and Viral Videos which was delivered by Mr. Boris Gorlov, Head of the Creative Department of Russia Today (RT).

The training explored innovative ways broadcasters can use AI to produce compelling video content, process archives for modern visual demands, and creatively adapt footage for promotional use, while maintaining strict adherence to ethical and professional standards.

Participants learned how AI technologies can revolutionize content creation by enhancing editing speed, visual consistency, and audience engagement. The session also delved into the ethical implications of AI use in media, particularly the challenges of deepfakes, and parody promos, emphasizing the need for integrity, authenticity, and public trust in digital storytelling.

More than eighty media professionals from across the African continent, including Nigeria, Angola, Botswana, Mauritius, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Lesotho, Cameroon, Kenya, The Gambia, and Benin, participated in the virtual training. The initiative forms part of AUB’s broader strategy to equip African broadcasters with the technical and creative skills required to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven global media environment.

The goal is to strengthen Africa’s capacity to tell its own stories authentically, using technology as a bridge. Through collaborations like this, the AUB is preparing a generation of broadcasters who can produce content that meets international standards while remaining deeply rooted in African perspectives.
