Dakar, 11 September 2025: The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), organizes a Workshop on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Integration in African Media Operations in Port Louis, Mauritius Island.
The workshop is scheduled to take place from October 30-31 and will be hosted by the Mauritius Broadcasting Organization (MBC) with participants from several broadcast organizations across Africa and beyond.
The event is designed to equip media professionals with practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, digital content creation technologies and skills, real case studies of how to tackle disinformation, false information, hate speech and harmful propaganda.
Participants will also be exposed to best practices in privacy and data protection, inclusive content production and dissemination, and opportunities for including media and information literacy into the curriculum for communication and journalism education in media training institutions across the African continent.
Guidance and mentorship will be provided for participants to design media and information literacy plans that can be integrated into the editorial and operational policies of their organizations including in the production of news and special programs to promote MIL competency among journalists and citizens alike.
The workshop will be conducted in hybrid format to allow for robust participation and engagement in-person in Mauritius and virtually.
