African Media Awards 2025

The “African Media Awards" announces its inaugural edition to celebrate excellence in journalism will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on December 4th, 2025.The event will recognise and award the most outstanding news reports, compelling documentaries, interviews, storytelling on social media and much more.

Organisers and supporting institutions include the African Union of Broadcasting, the Patrice Emery Lumumba Foundation, the Kwame Nkrumah Foundation, the Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation, the Kenneth Kaunda Legacy Foundation, the Sisulu Foundation for Social Justice, the PLO Lumumba Foundation, RT and others.

The top three nominees in each of the nine categories will be invited to the gala award ceremony featuring top entertainment from Africa and the expenses of all nominees will be covered by the event organisers.

Winners will be presented with “The Golden Alkebulan” prestigious trophy and will take home $6,000.

All runners-up will receive $2,000.Media companies are invited along with independent journalists to share this information and this invitation-to-apply across their platforms and submit their own best works by November 4, 2025 for a chance to cement a place in history as this year's best of the best.
