It brought together more than a hundred and sixty (160) journalists from across Africa and beyond to build capacity in critical areas such as:

  • Introduction to media and information literacy

  • Understanding and combating information disorder in the digital age

  • Tools for digital fact-checking and information verification

  • Responsible use of digital tools for impactful and ethical storytelling

  • Strengthening and rebuilding public trust through accurate, inclusive, and development-oriented reporting

  • Promoting resilience and sustainability in media coverage of pressing global challenges, including climate change and disasters

  • Ethical considerations in broadcast and social media content production

  • Developing institutional Media and Information Literacy Policy to include MIL into the programming of participating organizations

This training reaffirms the commitment of the leadership of AUB to empower African media professionals with cutting-edge knowledge and skills and support them through strategic partnerships to develop guidelines to integrate media and information literacy skills in their programmes.
