The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), in partnership with RT Academy, held the second session of its ongoing professional training series on November 18, with a highly engaging module titled “Creating Stand-Out Graphics for Your Programmes.” The session brought together media professionals from across Africa for an in-depth, practical exploration of modern broadcast graphics and design techniques.

Delivered by Georgy Finogentov, Head of Design at Russia Today (RT), the training unpacked the evolving landscape of visual communication in television, from traditional broadcast graphics to audience-driven digital content.

Finogentov guided participants through effective ways to integrate graphics in broadcast programming, including infographics, transitions, visual branding elements, and thematic templates that help reinforce editorial identity on screen.

The session also explored how broadcasters can adapt graphics for social media, an increasingly essential strategy for reaching younger and more diverse audiences. Finogentov demonstrated how AI and Augmented Reality can work together to create captivating visuals to make stories more engaging and captivating.

A major highlight of the training was the practical demonstration on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in graphic production. Finogentov showcased real-time workflows using AI tools to generate high-quality visuals, design templates, and program elements, while emphasizing the importance of ethical responsibility in AI usage. Participants learned about maintaining human editorial oversight, and ensuring that AI-generated graphics remain aligned with broadcast accuracy and ethical standards.

In a complementary presentation, Irene Gaouda, AUB Head of French Desk, demonstrated how the AUB Content Exchange Center is integrating AI into its own production workflows. Gaouda provided hands-on guidance on using AI to enhance key phases of content creation, including voice-over generation, image creation, script refinement, and production planning. Participants received practical tools and guidelines to responsibly incorporate AI into their newsroom and production environments, boosting efficiency while maintaining professional integrity.

The AUB–RT Academy Training Programme continues with two upcoming sessions:
Current Trends in TV Video Editing: 24 November 2025
Secrets of Filming and the Physics of the Process: 28 November 2025

AUB encourages all member broadcasters to take advantage of these advanced technical sessions designed to strengthen production capacity and elevate content quality across the continent.
