Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Baaba Maal and Berita Khumalo raise their voice against corona virus



These three celebrities will grant a giant virtual concert next Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 6:00 pm, GMT with the aims of mobilizing the necessary resources in support of the collateral victims of Covid-19.


The negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about social dynamics and deep stratifications amongst the African populations.


In response to the consequences incurred by the marginalized communities across Africa, three international non-profit organizations, namely the African Philanthropy Network, Trust Africa and the Southern Africa Trust are organizing in partnership with the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), a Live Aid Benefit Concert on Saturday, 17th October 2020 at 6:00 pm GMT.


The LiveStream4AfricaConcert will bring together three of the most talented multiplatinum international musicians: world Music singer and guitarist, Baaba Maal, from Senegal, south African living Icon Yvonne Chaka Chaka, who is also a renowned humanitarian and Afro Soul youngster Berita khumalo, from Zimbabwe.


The aim of this cultural jamboree is to provide quick support and immediate relief to community groups living at the margins of the society.


This cultural jamboree aims at mobilizing resources allowing vulnerable populations to better cope with the impacts of the pandemic on their lives. It is part of a project dubbed Community Immunity, a critical awareness platform that uses the power of art to engage the global audience that we are not safe until we are all safe.


This initiative was shaped to provide quick impact support and immediate relief to the needy and those living in rural areas. Some examples of groups initiative will serve include women in rural areas, miners, farmers, migrant workers and youths.


Community Immunity also supports research, policy, and advocacy efforts to combat poverty and marginalization at the systemic level and to ensure culturally contextualized and long-lasting solutions on the African continent.


Organized in partnership with AUB, the concert will be livestreamed by ITV, Impulse Radio, ITV Television, B-One Canal SAT, GRTS, Fraternité FM, West African Democracy Radio with the opportunity to share the livestream broadcasting with regional and national pan African TV stations.
