AUB's Mission in the Bahamas

Invited by the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), AUB’s CEO took part to the 48th session of the Union’s General Assembly held from 21 to 24 August 2017 in Nassau, Bahamas on the theme: "Digital Development in the Caribbean Media".

Nassau Bahamas hosting CBU' s 48th General Assembly Topics related to the impact of social media in the development of newsrooms and the new content policy in a digitization context topped the agenda. "The development of these two themes has allowed us to realize the similarity of issues in Africa and the Caribbean," Mr Grégoire Ndjaka disclosed. Together with Ms Sonia Gill, Secretary General of CBU, Mr Ndjaka discussed the different areas of cooperation that could unite the two Unions. At the same time, the two parties discussed the issues of co-production on Climate change in a context where landslides killed more than 500 people in Sierra Leone and where floods, cyclones and hurricanes continue to cause havoc thus making many homeless around the world. The two leaders also expressed the wish to see working together African journalists from the member states of the AUB and those of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union.
