The AUB, as a Gender Focal Point

The African Union of Broadcasting was confirmed in its role as a focal point for the African Chapter of the Media and Gender program. This is one of the main resolutions from the International Development Cooperation Meeting on Gender and Media that was held on 7 and 8 December 2015 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, in the Swiss capital.

This UNESCO-supported project will be launched during the Union’s General Assembly, which is scheduled to be held next November. The objective of this program is to integrate more women in media management by avoiding any form of discrimination, an idea shared by the Global Alliance on Media and Gender (GAMAG).

Today, a better definition of an international framework for cooperation on this issue is necessary. To demonstrate its interest, the AUB was represented at the Geneva meeting by its new Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Grégoire Ndjaka, and the Head of the Marketing and Communication Department, Mrs. Evelyne Thialy FAYE, who coordinates this program at the AUB.
