The 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations begins on November 8, at the Cairo International Stadium in Cairo. What are the specificities of this competition?
This is a first order competition. All players who participate in the games have the status of “Professional”. The competition offers beautiful games, with more goals per game than the Senior AFCON. Players born 1 January 1997 or later were eligible to participate in the competition. A total of eight teams qualified to play in the final tournament, including Egypt, the host country. The tournament will determine which three African teams will compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics men's football tournament, in Japan.
Furthermore, at the media level the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations is only in its third edition, but it is one of the most followed African competitions. In terms of commercial revenue, this is the 3rd largest tournament after the senior AFCON and the CHAN.
